Partnership with Landmark Solutions
We are thrilled to announce our recent partnership with Landmark Solutions through a Limited Partnership. This collaboration opens up exciting opportunities for our community and reflects the positive aspects highlighted in the business narrative prepared for council.
Feasibility Study Approval for Waste-to-Energy Facility
OKIB Utilities has received approval from Natural Resources Canada for a $2,900,000 feasibility study to develop a waste-to-energy facility. This project, in partnership with the City of Kelowna, will provide significant benefits to our community once operational.
Kode Contracting's Gravel Pit Operations
Kode Contracting is gearing up to start full operations at the gravel pit in the coming weeks. We will be posting positions soon and plan to be fully operational by mid-May. This development promises new employment opportunities for our members.
Upcoming Community Engagements
We invite you to join us for community engagements in Lake County and on IR1 to discuss potential development at Duck Lake. Additionally, Kode Contracting will be hosting a summer BBQ at the gravel pit to introduce their operations and connect with our community.
OKIB Group of Companies Employment Update
Within our group of companies:
OKIB Management Services LP currently employs 2 band members and anticipates hiring a summer student by May.
OKIB Operations LP plans to resume operations with 8 UXO personnel and 2 others when the gravel pit opens.
OKIB Forestry LP currently has 1 OKIB staff member.
Business Developments
We are in the final stages of completing the OKIB Group of Companies business plan with MNP, incorporating valuable input from staff, directors, and council. Additionally, we are launching a new website this month and have adopted Staff Policies and Procedures as required under the Governance and Fiscal Agreement (GFA). We are also finalizing our Communications Strategy and Finance Policy.
